Counseling can provide an outside perspective at times and a safe place to reflect on our thoughts, feelings, and relationships.
Counseling is a process and based on a relationship with a professional in which we can practice self-awareness and examination without judgement, search within, and express ourselves to be heard, communicate our needs, learn skills in a nurturing environment, and receive professional assistance to repair and restore our thinking to meet our emotional needs.
Individual Counseling
Your story matters, You matter, and You can change it any time you want
What you tell yourself and believe about yourself affects you more than you may realize,
When you tell YOUR Story, it can help you process difficult feelings and heal,
When you tell your story, shame dies
Fears are exposed to the light, and you can replace these with the truth,
“Be Transformed by the Renewing of Your Mind,” Romans 12:2.
When You Change the Story you tell yourself and believe inside your heart, You Can Change Your Life!
Sessions may be scheduled from 45 minutes to 90 minutes or special intensive sessions for specialized services. Clients may select a Clinical Intake which is an overview with a screening for any mental health issues and risks or a Mental Health Assessment which would include a diagnosis and written report with recommendations.
Trauma-What is trauma?
Trauma is having an emotional reaction and your life being impacted by experiences, events, stress, and situations that can be brief or chronic including an accident, medical issues, grief and loss of loved one, abuse as a child or an adult, or a relationship with an important person in your life. Trauma can have significant effects on a person's mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Many times people have relational trauma from childhood or as an adult that affects their other relationships and self-esteem.
Spiritual Counseling
Counseling can help focus on effective ways to move past this. Religious Trauma happens when people have experiences with a certain religion, church, or, group, or others that shakes their faith and view of God. Therapy with an outside perspective is needed at times to help a person work through a time of confusion or searching for spirituality and faith without judgement. Counseling can help during times of questioning or inner conflicts, to connect again spiritually, or dealing with family of different beliefs to live and walk in faith and love.
Couples and Family Counseling
Couples and Families may have challenges and times of conflict in beliefs needing assistance communicating and compromising. The intake may be done in two separate appointments with each person of 45 minutes or together in a longer initial intake to allow time for each person to provide background. Family Counseling may be conducted in separate sessions also for some families or parents who are more comfortable with separate sessions initially. The goals will be for the couple or family and individual issues would need to be addressed by a separate individual therapist.
